ABOUT GBS

HISTORY AND AIM OF THE SCHOOL

Grace Baptist Preparatory School, as it was then known was established on 1st September 1984 by the Grace Baptist Church. The initial enrolment for KG1 was thirty. The aim of the establishment of the school was to cater for the needs not only of the schoolchildren of members of the Grace Baptist Church but also that of the immediate community.

With proper management backed by sound policies, the school grew from strength to strength. It therefore came as no surprise when in September 1992, the first batch of primary six (P6) graduates were unconditionally transferred to pursue their Junior Secondary School program at St. Augustine’s and other Junior Secondary Schools within the Kumasi Metropolis. These students showed academic excellence in their various schools to such an extent that Head teachers from other schools registered subsequent P6 graduates in their schools even before they got to J.S.S 1.

ESTABLISHMENT OF JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN 1994

By September 1994, the school had established its own Junior Secondary School with an initial intake of sixty (60) students. By the end of that same year, the J.S.S. student population had risen to about two hundred (200). This number included fifty-three (53) final year students who were being prepared for their baptismal Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) in 1997.
